Los Angeles brings to mind bright colors, eternal sunshine, bikinis and palm trees, but a few days a year in the winter, during annual rainstorms it reveals its darker, foggier, moodier side. This photograph was taken one December afternoon on the beach, just south side of Los Angeles International Airport, capturing the cloudy skies, seagulls gliding on the ocean breeze and soft, low winter light.
