Four Seasons, Four Chances to Win
The seasons affect everything we do as photographers, from what we wear in the field to which camera gear we bring. It’s the same for hobbyists and professionals alike: The mood, colors, and themes we convey through our photographs change with the time of year.

We want to see your best photos that capture the essence of each season wherever you are. That’s why Shutterbug is running Time of the Season, a series of four photo contests, throughout 2021:

Winter: We announced the winners on March 26 – See the winners

Spring: Submissions May 17-June 4, winner announced June 11

Summer: Submissions August 23-September 10, winner announced September 17

Fall: Submissions October 25-November 12, winner announced November 19

Five finalists in each round will receive a $50 Amazon gift card and Skylum’s Luminar AI photo editing software. In December 2021, they will also receive a custom-made flat photo book featuring all finalists and winning photos. The winner of each round will take away a grand prize of $500 cash, a Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD lens, Sony Alpha a6400 mirrorless camera, Slik Carbon Fiber CF-834 Tripod w/ the PBH-45LP Ball Head, Skylum Luminar AI photo editing software, and a Standard 53 camera strap with Quick Release from Lucky Camera Straps.

And every valid photo contest entrant will receive a free 30-day trial of Skylum’s Luminar AI photo editing software.

Spring
Rebirth and renewal. New beginnings. A time of love. Cliches about spring are plentiful. But why? What is it about this time of the year that brings out the inner romantic in so many people, and what does it do to your photography? We want you to show us!

If your camera tends to gather dust in winter, you might find it easier to get out for a photo expedition during spring. Temperatures and weather patterns will often be far more comfortable in spring, both for photographers and their camera equipment. And while winter might lend itself to minimalism and calm, snowy landscapes, you could say spring photography is all about color and movement. Life!!

Looking through your spring photos from the past few years, do you notice a bit of a theme? Macro shots of flowers and bugs perhaps? Cherry blossoms and festivals? How about couples in love, animal parents and their younglings? Or would you normally be all about travel photography this time of year? (Here’s looking ahead to 2022.)

Whatever spring means to you, it’s time to dig out your absolute best photos from this invigorating time of the year. Enter them by June 11 for your chance to win. And if you haven’t done much photography lately, you still have a few weeks left to grab a camera and get snapping.
