I got up at 2:30 am and drove an hour and half to get to Rocky Falls from my house. I got there early because I wanted to capture the milky way over the falls. After shooting those images I stuck around for the sunrise. This was the scene that I captured looking down the falls toward the sun.
Rocky Falls is made up of rhyolite porphyry, which was molten rock that flowed to the surface. The falls are very big and must be climbed carefully as the surface is very slick. I found this out the hard way by losing my footing. This waterfall is fed by Rocky Creek.
