It's that time of year here in the Roan Highlands when the rhododendron bloom and one of the best places to go look at it is Roan Mountain. I went up the mountain right after a thunderstorm had passed through. The rain had kept nearly everyone away, so I was able to avoid the crowds of people who gather here during this time of year. Another positive going for me after the storm was that the fog was lifting off the mountain.
