When I captured this shot of Yaquina Bay, Oregon, I was attracted to the profile of the bridge against the sky. I also liked the line of pilings leading in from the left. Added to this were the reflections of the pilings and boat masts, broken up by the ripples in the water. It was a shot I didn't want to pass by! When I first viewed it on my computer screen, I was pleasantly surprised by the presence of a solitary bird in the upper left corner, which was like icing on a cake. This image was just "screaming" to be processed as a black & white, which I much prefer over color. In fact, unless color actually contributes to an image, I will always convert to b&w.
