A healthy coyote stalks its prey during the Golden Hour in Narragansett, R.I. The coyote emerged from the underbrush, slinking along stealthily as it pursued a small mammal, likely a rabbit, that was out of sight. The prey escaped in a cacophony of rattling brush, leaving the coyote to find other means of maintaining it's well-fed appearance. I was making my way from one shooting location to another when I came across this scene and quickly pulled up my camera in time to capture the moment shooting handheld. This image was captured with a focal length of 530mm on a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 lens mounted to a Canon 70D body. Exposure was 1/500 at f/9 and ISO 800.
