The small island of Poveglia is located in the lagoon near Venice and required finding someone local to get there. The island is so densely covered in brush that only the main building was accessible.

This photograph was taken with an Olympus OMD-EM1 and an Olympus 7-14mm lens. Multiple exposures were captured and later processed using Photomatix to address the wide range in contrast.

The room itself was somewhat a puzzle but the conclusion was that this was used to dry and sanitize the sheets that would have been used for the patients staying here.
