Photographer/Publisher Andrew Hudson teaches "Successful Self-Publishing" at Sundance Photographic Workshop November 8-12th session helps students create `coffee-table' photo books

Sundance, Utah, July 27, 2007 -- Awarding-winning photographer and accomplished self-publisher Andrew Hudson will share the secrets of his success at the Sundance Photographic Workshop, November 8-12, 2007. Conducted in the creative, inspirational environment of the Sundance (Utah) Resort, Mr. Hudson's "Successful Self-Publishing" course will teach students all the elements of creating, printing and selling their own large-format coffee-table book.

The course will cover the range of skills and stages involved in self-publishing. Topics include: choosing a subject and format; making a shoot list; photography for publication; photo composition for layout; shooting for variety; writing for photography; using page layout programs; telling a story with book design; finding a printer; financing, inventory, distribution and marketing; the law for photographers and publishers; and, how to sell books, stock photos and excerpts.

Since publishing his first book in 1999, Mr. Hudson has done all his own photography, writing, layout, financing, and arranging of printing and distribution. All of his books are nationally distributed and still in print, including one that is in its eighth printing. He has written for Shutterbug's Outdoor and Nature Photography magazine and operates the popular Web site PhotoSecrets.com.

About Andrew Hudson

Andrew Hudson has been a professional photographer since 1996. His rich, color pictures have been featured in ten books about California and Las Vegas. Mr. Hudson won the Grand Prize in the National Self-Published Book Awards (1999) and has published 14 color photography books, including ten of his own work and three with National Geographic photographer Bob Krist.

His first project, PhotoSecrets San Francisco, won the national Benjamin Franklin Award for Best First Book. Other Benjamin Franklin awards followed, including Best Coffee-Table/Gift Book, Best Publisher's Website, Best Photography Book (finalist) and Best Travel Guide (finalist). His latest book -- A Photo Tour of Las Vegas -- is currently a finalist in the photography category for the Book of the Year Award.

During a round-the-world trip in 1994, Andrew was frustrated that none of the guide books he'd bought could lead him to the exotic beach used in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun. He imagined a series of travel guide books designed for photographers. Two years later in 1996, Andrew quit his job and founded PhotoSecrets Publishing.

About Sundance Photographic Workshops
The Sundance Photographic Workshops are held at the Sundance Resort, the artistic, cultural and recreational community founded in 1969 by actor Robert Redford. The resort was recently voted #6 among U.S. resorts by Condé Nast Traveler -- and #1 among mountain resorts. It also served as the original home for the renowned Sundance Film Festival before its growing fame dictated its relocation to nearby Park City.

Nestled discreetly in the foothills of Mt. Timpanogos, the Sundance Resort is crafted to preserve the area's breathtaking, rich environment, while providing world-class accommodations for workshop participants.

The resort's relaxing, picturesque setting offers the ideal--as well as inspirational--backdrop for the Sundance Photographic Workshops. Classes are held in Sundance's spacious function suites, as well as in field excursions to capture outdoor, nature and wildlife photographs. Small class sizes enable numerous opportunities for one-on-one instruction and daily courses are complemented with after-dinner presentations of instructor and student photo portfolios.

The all-inclusive fee includes comfortable lodging in private mountainside cottages, as well as a complete meal plan that includes gourmet dining in The Tree Room, recipient of the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond award and the Wine Spectator award.
