Multitasking Combat Photographer Switches Between Rifle and Camera in This Amazing Video

Combat photography is, to say the least, one of the more challenging assignments anyone can accept. But if you’re both a photographer and a British Army soldier, let’s just say you have your hands full.

In the video below, you’ll see Rupert Frere on patrol in Afghanistan, while he switches between a DSLR and his rifle, all the while laying down fire and capturing the action. During an interview with Photography News, Frere says that combat is his favorite form of photography.

“All I need to do,” he explains, "is stay alive and take photos.” To us that sounds like a modest understatement that is far easier said than done. You can explore Frere’s work on his website. And be sure to read the full interview and see some of Frere's combat images at Photography News.

And after watching this amazing video, be sure to take a look at another piece we posted about a sideline photographer who mounts a GoPro on his DSLR while shooting college football games.
