Each winter, thousands of Monarch Butterflies make Santa Cruz their home as part of a multi-generational migration between Canada and Mexico. Their numbers are rapidly declining due to habitat destruction and herbicides which destroy milkweed, the only plant on which monarchs lay their eggs.
