Nikon D 800 E, RRS tripod. The Mitten Mountains are located in Monument Valley, on the Navajo Reservation. They are on the border of Arizona and Utah. This image depicts an occurrence which happens only twice per year, when the sunset casts the shadow of the East Mitten directly onto the West Mitten. My wife, an artist, found an old weathered tree branch which I used to form a "frame" around the image. Notice the colorful flowers in the foreground, lower right side.
