While boating the sea cliffs along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore I was able to access these remote
and beautiful patterns formed in the sandstone layered rocks by mineral solutions dissolved in the water table from above. The unusually calm water of Lake Superior this day made it possible to boat very closely to the cliffs where this detailed composition was possible.
Nikon D3, Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 lens at 45mm focal length, ISO 200, f5.6, 1/125 second exposure.
