While on a small boat off the coast of Swakopmund, Namibia, a crew member threw fish to pelicans. Gulls also swooped in to try to grab the flying fish. I climbed up on the boat to frame the ocean surface as a less distracting background, and tried to time my shutter release to the split second when a pelican opened its bill to catch a fish. The action in this image happened so fast that I didn't see which bird caught this fish.
