This was a great moment in my photography adventures. We stopped in Georgetown, CO for our usual visit to the ice cream shop, on the way back from a mountain adventure. We love walking around in Georgetown! We stopped in front of one of the store windows, and heard the humming of these creatures we'd never seen before. We only had our cell phones, trying to take a photo of these very quick moving insects. Finally, we decided to go get our "real" cameras, so one of us stayed watching these hummingbird moths, while the other got the SLR cameras from the car. One of the store owners, came out to see what we were following and photographing. She told us these were hummingbird moths. We'd never seen or heard of them, even though we visit Georgetown frequently. We were fascinated! We watched a few fly around among the store window sills with flower beds and the huge flower pots along the town streets. We must have taken over 50 photos, yet only a few caught them, in action and in focus. Truly beautiful creatures that kept us entertained for over an hour!
