Straightaway Kilo competition on Devil's Lake, Lincoln City, Oregon. My motto is well-known in my circle of boat-racing photographers; "If the boat isn't off the water, it's a snapshot". This shot is a definite exception to that rule, but straight-line speed-trap competition really doesn't lend itself to heart-stopping action. So... to give the shot a bit of interest, I shoot at slow shutter-speed and pan with the boat.
