I took a camping workshop in Aravaipa Canyon, Arizona. I got up in the early morning and wandered around in the soft light of the canyon, the sun mostly blocked by the high canyon walls. These black oak trees stood out very graphically against the soft light, and the bit of yellow on the leaning tree was a perfect contrast. I focused on the trees and used a fairly wide aperture so the background would be soft. Gear: Canon 5D MkIII, 20-105 mm lens, tripod. Settings: ISO 125, f9, 1 sec exposure.
