Where Indiana, Ohio and Michigan join there are lots of lakes, large and small. On a September morning, with my Canon 7D and EF-S Canon 15-85 mm lens pointed due East, I waited on the west shore of one of them hoping that a recent streak of great sunrises would continue. There was haze over the water and I was capturing soft hues even with the sun still below the horizon, taking a shot every minute or so. It was very gradual until suddenly, BAM, blinding light transformed everything. This shot was taken at 1/640th of a second with ISO set at 400. It was processed in Photoshop.
