In winter, the sunlight hits the Eastern Sierra at a sideways angle, lighting up the snow in a beam that travels across the entire range. I was trying for longer views to capture this beautiful light when I realized a close up would be much better. This is Mt. Tom, just above the Owens Valley in California. Gear used: Canon 5D MkIII, 24-105mm lens at 24mm, f22, .8 sec, ISO 100, tripod, polarizer
