This photo was taken on March 17, 2015 during a photography trip to Iceland. After several days of missing out on seeing the Northern Lights (due to heavy cloud cover), we finally got some clear skies on the same night as a massive Aurora event. It was incredible. After 3 hours of photographing the Aurora near Skaftafell, Iceland, the clouds cleared up enough to shoot at the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. When we arrived, the Aurora turned to a rare crimson red color. I slid down a rock embankment in the pitch dark to get a better angle with the pieces of ice in the foreground. This was the only frame that showed the green Aurora reflected in the lagoon.
Shot with a Canon 6D, Canon 16-35 f/2.8L lens, and a Benro Travel Angel Tripod.
