Maybe I was in a bit of a hurry. In mid-May my clump of scarlet cone flowers was covered in buds, but no full-blown flowers yet. This bud was ahead of most, and, while it still showed no scarlet, it showed me a lot of moxie.
Nikon D800, Nikkor 105mm, f2.8 macro lens @ f36. ISO2500, 1/60 with Nissin ring flash.
