This is a photography of "Bixby Bridge by Starlight" in Big Sur California about 20 miles south of Monterey California on Highway 1. This image was taken at midnight during the early part of July. This time is the best for the Milky Way to appear in the southern sky. The night was clear and had no wind, which eliminated any potential camera shake.

This is a three image panorama. The foreground and bridge were exposed for 5 minutes at f2.8 and ISO 1250. The additional sky images were exposed at f2.8 for 30 seconds at ISO 2000. The light streak is of a south bound car. It was taken with a Canon 5D Mark III using a 14mm f/2.8 Canon lens. The image was processed in Lightroom and Photoshop CS6. I removed most of the yellow from the sky to create a blue outer space look.
