Whenever there's a bear sighting along the Cades Cove Loop Road in the Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park, gridlock is inevitable. The one-way loop road comes to a standstill, as there is never enough space for parking. Eventually, the bear wanders back into the woods and the drivers trickle away, or a Park Ranger shows up to get traffic flowing, ready-or-not. In this instance, a Ranger broke up the party. Besides my side-view-mirror parting shot, I did manage to get several bear pics prior to the Ranger's arrival.
