Olive trees can live for hundreds of years. The older ones often have gnarled and entwined trunks with strange shapes and dark hollows. Some viewers see faces. The photo above was taken on Majorca, Spain, with a Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 18-200 mm VR lens at 32mm. The exposure was f/8 and 1/500 sec (ISO 400). A duotone treatment was used to highlight the near-monochromatic surface textures.
