As barrier islands, the Outer Banks have been ravaged by storms over the years and take the brunt of bad weather. In this photo, sandbags and sand dunes and cement were no match for the relentless pounding of the Atlantic's waves leaving several homes in Buxton, N.C. uninhabitable and condemned. This photo was taken with Patti's Sony A 290, a Sony 18-55 mm lens at ISO 100, f10, 18 mm, 1/320.
