A typical honeybee can carry a pollen load that weighs as much as 35-50% of the bee's body weight. This extra weight doesn't seem to slow them down much; it is still hard to get a sharp photo while the bee is in flight. This photo was taken from a distance of about 3 feet. The camera was a Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 16-85 mm VR lens at 85 mm. The exposure was f/10 and 1/2500 sec. Image by Irwin H. Segel.
