Canon just took the wraps off of a very cool new camera: the PowerShot G3 X, which boasts a 25x optical lens with image stabilization and a one-inch, 20.2-megapixel CMOS sensor. For those keeping score at home that means this relatively compact camera has a zoom lens equivalent to 24-600mm with an aperture range of f/2.8-f/5.6.

Canon took the wraps off two new compact, superzoom cameras this morning: the PowerShot SX520 HS and the PowerShot SX400 IS digital cameras. The new PowerShot SX520 HS features a whopping 42x Optical Zoom lens (equivalent to 24-1008mm) and the PowerShot SX400 IS has a 30x Optical Zoom (equivalent to 24-720mm).

Canon has just unveiled a massive zoom lens for cinema cameras. Called the CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-Telephoto Zoom lens, Canon is hailing it as the “world’s largest 4K ultra-telephoto zoom lens” for large-format, single-sensor cinema cameras. With a built-in, 1.5x extender, the focal length of the new lens translates to 75-1500mm.

Canon USA has sent a battalion of 70 expert technicians and support personnel to Rio de Janeiro to provide equipment loans and repair services for photographers covering the Summer Olympic Games that kick off with the opening ceremony Friday evening. And as you can see in these images of the Canon Professional Services (CPS) depot room, their arsenal is very impressive.
