Watch the New Nikon D5 DSLR Fire Off 12 Frames-Per-Second Bursts With Full Autofocus (VIDEO)

The Nikon D5 professional DSLR has been the clear star (in cameras) of this year’s CES 2016 show in Las Vegas. Indeed, there’s a lot that’s appealling about this flagship, full frame DSLR from Nikon, including its ability to shoot at up to ISO 3,280,000 to capture images in extreme low light conditions.

Other highlights of the 20.8-megapixel Nikon D5, which was unveiled at CES on Tuesday, include a new 153-point focusing system, an Expeed 5 processing engine, and its ability to shoot 4K UHD video at 30fps.

And, of course, it goes without saying that this new pro body is fast, given that it’s aimed at the sports photography and photojournalism markets. How fast? Well, it’s capable of shooting at 12 frames-per-second (fps) with full AE and AF, or 14 fps with the mirror locked.

We get a glimpse of this incredible continuous shooting speed in the below video from DCFever, which shows the Nikon D5 firing 12fps with full autofocus engaged. And thanks to the D5’s extended buffer which lets you shoot up to 200 frames of 14-bit lossless Raw/NEF files + JPG fine without pausing, you won’t miss capturing those crucial moments in the action.

Impressive, indeed.
