Watch This Hypnotic Time-Lapse Video of Polaroids Developing Before Your Eyes

Polaroids. Remember Polaroids? They're those wonderful instant film thingies that were a big deal before, ya know, digital photography took over the world, making “instant” photography not so instant anymore.

But many people still love Polaroids, including us here at Shutterbug. There’s something about them that still manages to thrill, despite the thousands (millions?) of digital images we have shot. If you’re a Polaroid fan like us – and even if you’re not – you should check out the short time-lapse video below from the Los Angeles Times that shows Polaroids developing at the newspaper’s photo and video studio at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.

Yes, the irony is not lost on us that it’s a “newspaper” that posted this video of Polaroids at a “film” festival. Call it nostalgia, if you will, by there's something mesmerizing about watching these speeded-up Polaroids of celebrities and movie stars appear magically before your eyes via time-lapse.

It’s also worth noting that instant film photography might actually be making a comeback, as we reported a few years ago. What’s old is new again.
