Have Selfies Gone Legit? Nikon Intros N-MP001 Selfie Stick

Selfie sticks have, so far, been seen as somewhat frivolous and narcissistic photo accessories. But now a very big name in photography has gotten into the selfie game. The new Nikon N-MP001 Selfie Stick is designed for use with Nikon's Coolpix cameras -- and other compact digital models -- and collapses down to just 7.28 inches to fit easily in your purse or backpack.

When opened, the Nikon N-MP001 Selfie Stick extends to 28.54 inches for individual or group self-portrait photos. The N-MP001 Selfie Stick connects to the tripod socket of your camera and features a tripod socket at the bottom of the handle for added versatility. The Nikon Selfie Stick weighs just .41 lbs. and can carry a camera up to .88 lbs.

The Selfie Stick features a comfortable foam grip and a hand strap for easy carrying. A fixed pan-head allows you to easily change the position of the camera when it is attached to the Selfie stick. The suggested retail price is $59.95. (It remains to be seen if Nikon will also create a "Belfie Stick" for better butt photos.)
