Kodak Kills Off Professional BW400CN Film

Kodak Alaris has announced that—due to a steady decline in sales and customer usage—it is discontinuing the popular Kodak Professional BW400CN film. Known as the world’s finest-grained chromogenic film, Kodak Professional BW400CN offers a high level of sharpness, smooth neutral tones, convenience of C-41 processing with great highlight and shadow detail: all factors that once made this film the favorite of many photographers.

Depending upon the demand, BW400CN film should be available for up to 6 months, Kodak Alaris said in a statement.

“We empathize with the Pro photographers and consumers who use and love this film, but given the significant minimum order quantity necessary to coat more product combined with the very small customer demand, it is a decision we have to make,” the Kodark Alris statement says.

The news comes on the heels of an announcement by Ilford that, contrary to some rumors, it would not be discontinuing its XP2 Super black-and-white film.
