Fujifilm Intros Compact X-A3 Mirrorless Camera and Weather-Resistant XF R WR 23mm F/2 Lens

Fujifilm unveiled two new products for mirrorless shooters this morning: the compact, retro-styled X-A3 camera, and the weather and dust-resistant XF 23mm f/2 R WR wide-angle lens.

X-A3 Mirrorless Camera
The 24.2-megapixel X-A3 features an APS-C sensor, a 180° rotating touchscreen LCD, and an attractive, robust design with faux leather trim and aluminum top plate, front plate and top dials. The camera has a normal sensitivity mode from ISO 200–6400, with extended sensitivity settings of ISO 12,800 and ISO 25,600 for minimizing camera shake under extremely low-light situations.

Fuji claims the X-A3 delivers images with “astonishing low noise” even when shooting indoors or at night with high ISO settings.

The camera features a new autofocus system with 49-point focus areas in the single-point AF mode. The zone and wide/tracking modes offer 77-point focus areas. and the X-A3 provides release-priority AF, focus-priority AF, as well as an AF+MF mode. 

Fujifilm is touting the X-A3’s selfie capabilities while using the 92,000-dot touch LCD screen flipped up in the 180° position, which enables users to view the entire screen for selfie composition. New self-timer functions offer a host of options including smile detection.

Other features of the X-A3 include in-camera Raw processing, Wi-Fi image transfer and remote camera operation, and interlocking of metering and AF areas.

The camera will be available in October as part of the Fujifilm X-A3 Kit which includes an XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II lens for $600.

Fujinon XF 23mm f/2 R WR
This compact 23mm wide-angle offer’s an equivalent 35mm focal length in the 35mm format and features a lightweight (6.3 oz.) design, and an internal AF system with a stepping motor for fast, precise and silent focusing.

The XF 23mm combines a robust metal exterior with dust and weather resistance for protection against abuse and the elements, making it a good choice for outdoor photographers. The lens is constructed with 10 elements in 6 groups with Fujifilm’s Super EBC coating for optimum image quality while minimizing flare and ghosting.

Other features of the new Fujinon XF 23mm f/2 R WR include a 9-blade aperture for smooth bokeh, a minimum working distance of just under 9 inches, and autofocus as fast a 0.5 seconds. The lens will be available next month for $450.
