Epson Unveils Gorgeous Winners of 2016 International Panorama Photography Competition

The annual Epson Pano Awards is an international competition recognizing the art and craft of panorama photography. The 2016 event received over 4545 entries from 1066 photographers in 60 countries, and resulted in some truly exceptional images.

The image above was made by Alex Noriega of the U.S. and won the Overall Award. Noriega made the shot on Mt. Rainier in Washington State, which he says is one of his favorite his favorite places.

Austrian photographer Nicholas Roemmelt won the Amateur Award for this beautiful night shot from a peak in the Dolomites near his hometown of Tyrol, capturing the Milky Way in the evening sky.

The winner of the VR/360 Award goes to Oleg Gaponyuk of Russia for this amazing underwater image of Mexico’s Pit Cave. You can view an interactive version on the competition’s website.

Hougaard Malan from South Africa won the Carolyn Mitchum Award, presented for the image that best conveys “feeling” and tells a story. Houaard made the shot at Ruacana Falls in Namibia.

The winner of the Epson Digital Art Award for excellence in digital post processing is Marsel van Oosten of the Netherlands. He captured this scene in Libya.

Swiss Photographer Simon Roppel won the Extreme Moment Award for this image captured in the Canadian Rockies.  He says on the day he made this shot he spent two hours exploring before he came upon this scene with amazing light.

The Curators Award was presented to Australian photographer Rodney Trenchard for this image he made at Lake Pukaki in New Zealand.
