A new start-up company called Z Camera has just unveiled the E1, a GoPro-style camera that uses a Micro Four Thirds sensor, takes interchangeable lenses, and is capable of shooting 4K video. We got some hands-on time with the E1 last week during a meeting with Z Camera’s founder, Jason Zhang. Images of the camera in this story are from that meeting.

The small, portable design allows for longer periods of recording scenes in Full HD while the HX-A1’s rugged structure keeps water and dust out and protects against impact and cold temperatures.

Canon just announced the new EOS C300 Mark II digital cinema camera, which is designed for serious filmmaking including documentaries, event, and commercial videography. The Canon C300 Mark II is the follow-up to the C300, which was released in 2011 and was the company’s first cinema-level camera.

RØDE Microphones just unveiled a slew of new imaging products at an exclusive event in San Diego, California. As its centerpiece, RØDE launched the RØDELink Digital Wireless System—a fully-digital wireless audio system that utilizes a next-generation 2.4GHz, 128-bit encrypted digital transmission sent on two channels simultaneously, providing a high-resolution 24-bit/44.1k digital audio signal at a range of over 100 yards.

Sony stepped up its 4K game at CES. The company introduced a powerful and tough new POV  camera, the 4K Action Cam. The new model, known as the FDR-X1000V, is a compact, splash-proof POV camera that allows users to easily capture stunning 4K content (3840x2160@30p 100Mbps1/60Mpbs), which can be played back on a compatible 4K TV directly from the camera through HDMI. It also features enhanced HD video performance with upgraded stabilization, image quality and high-frame rate shooting.
