Talking Pictures by DCW takes you on a trip down camera memory lane as it pays homage to the 30th anniversary of Canon’s iconic EOS system in the below video. Showing the various film, DSLR and mirroless cameras in the EOS (Electro-Optical System) universe from 1987 to 2017, the 1.5-minute clip demonstrates how much and, in many cases, how little Canon’s EOS models have changed over the years.

Fujifilm reimagined the medium format photography game last fall at Photokina with the introduction of their 51-megapixel GFX 50S compact, mirrorless camera and three unique lenses to take advantage of everything this camera can do. In the video below you’ll see what extreme sports photographer Daniel Tengs was able to accomplish with the eminently mobile, large-sensor GFX 50S.

Yesterday we posted our hands-on first look of the new Sony A9 full-frame mirrorless camera, and we said it was "super speedy" and "nearly silent." If you’re wondering just how fast this sports/action camera performs, watch the short video below and see for yourself.

Sony got in the game this morning by unveiling the super speedy Sony A9 full frame mirrorless camera, which is designed for sports and action photography. The A9 features what Sony is calling the “world’s first” full-frame stacked CMOS sensor with 24.2MP of resolution, and it has the ability to shoot “blackout-free” bursts of images at up to 20 frames per second (fps) for up to 241 Raw or 362 JPEG images.

This morning Sony announced it has overtaken Nikon in the U.S. market for full-frame interchangeable lens cameras, one spot behind industry leader Canon. Sony leapfrogged Nikon because of the company’s 23% growth in this category with record sales in both interchangeable-lens cameras and lenses in 2017.

The Fujifilm X-T2 is a compact but serious mirrorless camera you can bring anywhere. It hovers between the enthusiast and pro product categories with a feature set and performance levels previously only available in DSLRs. Or in other words, the photographic power that 12 pounds of gear used to deliver is now offered in a camera less than half the weight with all the image quality. Highlights of the Fujifilm X-T2 include an APS-C-sized 24.3-megapixel X-Trans CMOS III sensor with no low-pass filter, and the ability to shoot 4K video.

When the invitation arrived to join Sony and a group of editors and writers in Austin, Texas, for a couple days of shooting with the new A6500 APS-C mirrorless camera, my response was swift and unequivocal: “When do I leave?” Austin is a fun town known for superb cuisine, great music, friendly folks, and an abundance of shooting opportunities, and I’ve been eager to get my hands on the compact powerhouse A6500 ever since it was announced last October.

If you love “seeing how the sausage is made” in the camera world as much as we do, then you’re going to really enjoy the Surface Magazine video below of factory workers in Germany hand-building Leica M10 digital rangefinders.

Shutterbug just returned from a trip to Thailand where we got to visit the Sony Technology factory in Chonburi, which manufactures Sony cameras, lenses and other imaging products. While we were not permitted to shoot photos or video in most of the factory, Sony did allow us to record the below clip of factory workers meticulously assembling, testing and boxing up Sony A7R II cameras.

When Fujifilm said at the photokina show in Cologne, Germany last year that its forthcoming 51.4-megapixel GFX mirrorless medium format camera would sell for “way under $10,000,” they weren’t lying.

Leica is going back to the future (again) with its newest digital rangefinder, the full frame, 24-megapixel M10. With this new model, which is the follow-up to the Leica M (Typ 240), Leica has trimmed the size of the M10, making it 4mm (1/8-inch) thinner than its predecessor. Part of that size reduction is due to the fact that Leica has gotten rid of the 1080p HD movie capture mode that was available on the previous model.
