We are amazed by the wide variety and overall affordability of the camera cases and bags that have earned their place among the Best Sellers on the Amazon website. All have been rated at 5 (or 4.5) stars by purchasers, and they cover a broad array of purposes—from Drone to DSLR. So we’ve selected a cross-section—all priced under $30—to represent the collection.

I ordered a circular polarizing filter in 67mm size from Amazon. The price was $7.99. Two days later I was outside shooting through the new CP filter in all of the traditional polarizer situations. The last previous time I bought a polarizer it cost more than $50. So what did I discover? Was this deal a Bargain or Bagel?

This story includes a concise but clear explanation of how polarizers work.

One of my overall, long-time favorite camera bags has been out of production for many years. It can still be found on eBay, usually for around $30 in excellent condition. With so many outstanding modern bags available today, why waste this ink on a camera bag that was discontinued more than 15 years ago?

Making a lens sharp and acceptably free of aberrations is hard. Very hard. Making a lens that can be both tack-sharp and intentionally soft, pleasantly unsharp and able to exploit the native beauty of certain optical aberrations is even harder. Then there’s Lensbaby.

Everything you need to vlog, all neatly packaged and ready to go from Canon, Nikon and Sony. Just add a topic, a narrator and a smile. Contrary to popular belief, YouTube does not require the inclusion of cats, dogs or people falling off bicycles.

You need a Table Top Tripod to hold your GoPro, Litra Torch, Rode microphone, flash unit, Lume Cube, cellphone, slave strobe, cue cards, etc., etc., and—oh yes—your camera. Whether you’re a vlogger, photographer, Zoom-connected work-from-home-employee (Hommuter) or just somebody who likes to take pictures of their food, you need one of these guys. Maybe two. Wet happens. Having photography without protection in unstable climates is more than risky—it’s an invitation to calamity. Practicing unprotected video may seem like a safer alternative, but that’s a myth. Why take chances with something as precious as your camera? It’s widely known that a lack of photography in your diet can cause untold miseries. Symptoms include excessive cat photos, too many fresh-from-shower selfies and in some extreme cases, TikTok videos that practically beg for body shaming. Being housebound and isolated from photo ops can break any man or woman down. But don’t despair! Shutterbug has the prescription to relieve your aches and pains.

Like you, I’m looking for sensible indoor activities during this temporary quarantine. I’ve tried a few. Juggling was fun but there are still stains on the ceiling and glass particles in the carpet. So I told my family that instead of throwing things up in the air and dropping them I’d buy a ukulele and learn to play it. They said they’d support my musical inclinations, but of course, they’d miss having me around, too. Ultimately I turned to my very most favorite pastime. And after that short nap, I thought about photography.

File this one under “Having fun with photos while temporarily housebound.” reStickity prints your images on durable peel & stick adhesive material that can safely be attached, removed and then reattached to virtually any surface without damaging the wallboard, refrigerator door, corkboard or plaster (etc.) you attach it to.
